The IRMA iSEED Foundation along with the enabling partner LIC Housing Finance Ltd had launched the Social Trailblazer program to nurture the evolving ecosystem of Indian Social Enterprises.

The goal is to promote the Social Enterprise programme so as to promote the development of social enterprise and social investment to help address entrenched social and environmental problems and deliver positive change in our communities and societies through Incubating 10 start-ups and supporting them with financial as well as technical assistance to build their capacity, make them market-ready and help them scale their business.



The ambition of the Social Trailblazer Program is to support distinguish players operating in the following key fields of intervention:



Social innovation for improved waste collection and management in low-income settlements and better working conditions for waste-pickers covering the following aspects,

  • Healthcare
  • Waste management
  • Clean Energy & Sustainable Mobility


Innovative solutions to tackle landfills and dumpsites which include,

  • Art & Craft
  • Agribusiness
  • Education & Skill Development

Catalytic support and value addition to the core work of selected enterprises for creating impact at a scale.

Key Incentives

  • A financial award Upto INR 25,00,000 in the form of Equity Funding and UPTO INR 5,00,000 in the form of Grant Funding top 10-12 selected startups
  • 1-year of personalized incubation and acceleration support at IRMA ISEED Foundation

  • Screening of applications
  • Selection of 30 Startups

Incubation Round

10th August, 2023 to 10th November 2023

  • Bootcamp Offline, 7th & 8th August, 2023
  • One to one interaction with startups
  • Allocation of Mentors
  • Mentor-Mentee Sessions

Pitching Round

14th December, 2023 to 29th March, 2024

  • Pitching event at IRMA 14th December, 2023
  • Final selection of 20 startups for cohort 2
  • Funding to potential 10-12 Startups
  • Networking and open demo days for 20 startups

Challenge Guidelines


Eligibility Criteria

  • Demonstrating the existence of a legal structure: the challenge is open to startups registered in India with DPIIT certificate (Pvt Ltd company preferred).
  • Addressing one of the two themes mentioned above or are working towards creating social impact in society.
  • Demonstrating the existence of a sustainable and viable business model with a Minimum Viable Product or service ready stage and onwards
  • Social impact & Innovation are the heart of the solution
  • For-profit startups with more than 6 months of operations on ground

Evaluation Criteria

Here are some points to keep in mind while applying

  • Robustness of the operational and commercial model
  • Potential for replicability and/or scalability
  • The team is composed of diverse and complementary expertise with technical, commercial and administrative profiles. Added bonus for women-led teams or teams with a significant number of women.
  • Assertive social impact strategy and ability to measure it
  • The funds should contribute in a positive and concrete way to the development of the entrepreneurial project.
